Typically, these children come from families that have an income of less than $100 USD/month. Because of a lack of income, many families in Quininde are unable to build houses adequate for their needs. Often, both parents will work out of the home, and many children are left in the care of older brothers and sisters. This has led to poorly developed family relationships. Quininde is also characterized by abject immorality and very low literacy rates.
