The following is a story of a young lady who graduated from the sponsorship program under AMG Guatemala and who is now the Director of Finance for AMG Guatemala.

Nidia is the Director of Finance for the entire nationwide AMG organization

I am the second of four siblings, born the 14th of July, 1986 in Guatemala City. I was born into a family with scarce resources but with Christian parents.
During my first two years of life, my father stopped attending our church and began to have troubles with alcohol. This caused him to leave his work for prolonged periods of time and forced my mother to earn a living in order to support me and my brothers. Thanks to the Lord my home was near AMG´s Amparo Childcare Center and my mother was able to enroll my brother and I – me at just three years old! I spent each day at AMG until my mother was able to pick me up and I received everything I needed; food, instruction, love and biblical training. When it was time for me to begin school, I attended AMG's program each afternoon receiving a hot meal, help with my homework, Christian education and a lot of love and counsel! After finishing my primary years, I went on to high school and later studied towards being an accountant. During those years, as my family continued in poverty, I received a scholarship to continue studying from AMG. After graduating as an accountant I had the opportunity to work in AMG´s central office. While working in the office I received an additional AMG scholarship to study in university in order that I work towards becoming a certified public accountant. During my university studies I was promoted to various positions within AMG and am now the Director of Finance for the entire nationwide organization. I give thanks to the Lord for the fact that this year I will graduate as a CPA from University, something I never could have done without the financial support and encouragement of AMG.

I am now 24 years old and I feel joyful and so fortunate to have been a part of AMG during 21 years of my life! In this ministry that the Lord has given me, I work with responsibility and passion because I am convinced that the work we are doing is transforming my country and my fellow Guatemalans. I cannot think of more important work and want to give back that which was given to me!
I am married to a godly man, Hamilton, and together we are involved in our church and raising our dear little Andrew, born this past May. He is a new blessing in our life and we are so grateful for him!
