This past spring marked ground breaking ceremony for the new La Palabra (the Word) Christian School building project in  Monjas, Guatemala.  Just recently (May,2011),  I (Rick Postma) had the privilege of visiting the project.  I was amazed by what I saw.  Most of the walls for this 12 classroom school were almost entirely up to the roof line.  The two young engineers, who run the company which is building the school, took him on a tour and showed how the school is being built in three sections to minimize any earthquake damage.  Footings have all been dug to a depth of over 6 feet.  The company has been able to employ a number of the fathers of the sponsor children - helping them develop skills which we hope will enable them to find regular employment in the future.  We visited the home of one of these workers - a shack with a corrugated iron roof.  When it rains, the water leaks in everywhere.  Two of their children are sponsored at the school.  They spoke of their love for the Lord and their thankfulness for His many blessings in providing a Christian education for their children. I also visited the run down building where the school operates and was met with great enthusiasm!  Please pray for this project. May the Lord bless you, Rick Postma.
